First off, the composition is beautiful. The soft, smooth focus (contrasting with the harsh scrapes near the front) is inviting.
The longer you look at it, however, the more menacing it seems. It forces you to observe every detail. The slight curve up near the back of the picture. The black lines that slam on top of "the bridge." Those scrapes. They seem to foreshadow some sort of impending doom... eerie.
The black and white was absolutely perfect for this. It makes the atmosphere harsh, strict, and unchanging. There isn't hope beyond those bars. There isn't a way out.
Ha, I haven't the slightest idea if you meant anything to come out of this picture, but a whole story could be told off of this alone.
This abstract is just great. Perfect straight lines, (balanced with the few curves beautifully), perfect lighting and perspective.
